Stucco remediation generally refers to corrective work on a stucco assembly and the conditions affecting it. The term alone does not tell you whether a proposal includes one opening, an elevation, or most of the building.
Start with the findings
Ask the contractor to connect each proposed area to an observation, test result, or inspection finding. A report may recommend further investigation without establishing the final removal boundary. Make that uncertainty clear before treating an initial allowance as a fixed complete scope.
Identify each stage
A useful proposal distinguishes investigation, removal, underlying repair, restoration of exterior layers, and finishing. It should also identify adjoining window, balcony, or roof details that need coordination. Not every project includes all of those items, so request explicit inclusions and exclusions.
Plan for concealed discoveries
Agree on how additional affected material will be documented and priced. Ask when work pauses for approval and how an open area will be protected. If structural components are involved, clarify the evaluation and repair detail needed before continuing.
Request records before close-up
- Photographs keyed to the repair locations.
- Description of repaired or replaced materials.
- Relevant reports and any testing performed.
- Approved changes to the original scope.
- Finish and maintenance information.
